From March 30 to April 14, 2017, Chairman of the International Society of Multiphysics, Chief editor of The International Journal of Multiphysics, Professor Mojtaba Moatamedi visited Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Explosion Science and Technology (SKLEST). He gave two brilliant academic reports titled “Experimental and Numerical Study of Composite Structural Panels Subjected to Windborne Debris Impact and Their Strengthening for Climate Change Adaptation” and “Multiphysics and Industrial Applications”. The report was hosted by Professor Chen Pengwan, Dean of School of Mechatronical Engineering.
In the report, Professor Mojtaba Moatamedi introduced the method and theory of multiphysics, including several coupling calculation methods of fluid-solid coupling, and advanced numerical simulation software of multi-field coupling. Combining the nuclear accident in Fukushima Nuclear Plant in Japan and problems in the field of explosion impact, he demonstrated the ability of the software to solve problems in multi-field coupling and verified the simulation results by experiments. The report has aroused participants’ attention and interests and they discussed with Professor Mojtaba Moatamedi on the load type of lagrange method and Euler's method and the scope of application of the software.
During the visit, Professor Mojtaba Moatamedi discussed with Director of SKLEST, Professor Wang Cheng and visited the simulation and computing center and some laboratories. He spoke highly of the research conditions and achievements. The International Conference on MULTIPHYSICS 2017 will be cohosted by the International Society of Multiphysics and SKLEST on December 14-15, 2017. This year, Professor Mojtaba Moatamedi and Professor Chen Pengwan, Dean of the school of Mechatronical Engineering will cochair the meeting.
