The "2011 International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology" was opened on June 1, 2011 at the Dongguan Museum of Science and Technology. The opening ceremony was hosted by Hou Xuesong, assistant Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences. Vice Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, Prof. Feng Changgen from Beijing Institute of Technology, Vice President of Beijing Institute of Technology Yang Bin and Vice Mayor of Dongguan City Leng Xiaoming attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. 150 participants (60 overseas) came from 24 countries and regions, such as China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Canada, Japan, Australia, Poland, Croatia, Hungary, India, Brazil, South Korea, Singapore, Turkey, Thailand, Tunisia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia , Iran, Pakistan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, China.
During these three busy and orderly days, eight internationally renowned experts made keynote academic reports and more than 60 papers were presented to conduct academic exchanges at the conference venues. The contents of the discussion topics include environmental ecology, environmental toxicology, environmental chemistry, environmental monitoring and evaluation, air pollution and prevention, water pollution and prevention, soil pollution and prevention, solid pollution and prevention, waste disposal and utilization. The proceedings of this conference have been published by Science Press (in English), and 175 academic papers have been included.
The 2011 International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences and Beijing Institute of Technology, and co-organized by the Environmental Branch of the American Chemical Society. It was jointly organized by the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology (Beijing Institute of Technology) and the Dongguan City Museum of Science and Technology. The meeting received strong support from the Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau and the Dongguan Science and Technology Association. The conference will further promote the development of environmental science and technology in China, expand academic exchanges between scholars at home and abroad, and improve the academic level. The "2011 International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology" is the third session of this thematic international conference. The first two sessions were held in 2007 (Beijing) and 2009 (Shanghai), respectively.
