The 2014 International Experimental Mechanics Autumn Conference closed successfully

Organized by the American Society of Experimental Mechanics, Asian Society of Experimental Mechanics, Professional Committee of Experimental Mechanics of Chinese Society of Mechanics, Professional Committee of Explosive Mechanics of Chinese Society of Mechanics, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Science and Technology, hosted by the Key Laboratory, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Security and Protection, and the Key Laboratory of Impact Environment Material Technology, the "2014 International Symposium on Experimental Mechanics in Autumn and the International Conference on Strong Motion and Its Effects" was held in Beijing on October 20-22, 2014.

 

 

Chen Jie, Vice President of the Beijing Institute of Technology delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony. The chairman of the conference, Yu Qifeng, on behalf of the academician conference and the meeting organizing committee, made an opening statement. Professor Zhang Qingming, director of the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology, presided over the opening ceremony of the conference.

 

 

The International Conference on Experimental Mechanics Autumn is held once a year and is one of the most important global academic conferences in the field of experimental mechanics. The International Conference on Dynamic Motion and Its Effects is held once a year. It is sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology. As an influential academic conference, this conference is an important exchange platform for experimental mechanics, dynamic loading and its effects. There were 16 well-known experts in the conference to give conference report and 28 experts to deliver invited talk. 98 delegates made separate reports and poster presentations. The conference reports include: "Displacement-relay videometric methods for surface multi-position subsidence surveillance" by Academician Yu Qifeng of the National University of Science and Technology of China, "Material dynamic experiments under ramp wave loading" by Academician Sun Chengwei of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics, and Fang Fanging, Peking University. "Strain rate effect on dynamic impact and energy absorption of two dimensional lattice materials", "Rate, structure and temperature effects on the flow stress and tensile strength of metals" by Academician GI Kanel of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Lu Tianjian of Xi'an Jiaotong University and “oblique projectile impact of double-layered pyramidal metallic lattices filled with ceramic insertions", "Real-time damage assessment inside materials deforming at different rates", Prof. Chen Weinong, Purdue University, "What Optical Metrology can be Professor Wolfgang Osten, University of Stuttgart, Germany." Do for the Inspection of Micro and nano Components”, Professor Arun Shukla, University of Rhode Island, USA "Mechanics in combined extreme environments: recent experimental studies”, Professor Wang Weizhong, Tsinghua University, Taiwan, “A residual stress measurement method for glass plates by integration photoelasticity and spectrometer”, Academician Lu Jian, City University of Hong Kong, “Contribution of multiscale experimental and computational mechanics to the integration "Advanced nanomaterials in mechanical systems", "Fully non-contact systems for damage visualization and diagnosis in composite structures" by Prof. Fuh-Gwo Yuan, North Carolina State University, USA, Professor Tatsuo Sakai, Ritsumeikan University, Japan, "A study on very High cycle fatigue properties of low flammability magnesium alloy in rotating bending and axial loading", "Stokes-Mueller analysis to optical coherence tomography for possible stress analysis in biotissues and cancer cell diagnosis", United States, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Yu-Lung Lo, USA "Friction behavior of fault gouges at co-seismic slip rate" by Professor Vikas Prakash of Case Western Reserve University “s and normal pressures using modified torsional Kolsky bar”, “Application of the continuous rotating detonation to gas turbine, jet and rocket propulsion” by Prof. Piotr Wolański of Warsaw University of Technology and Professor Chen Pengwan of Beijing Institute of Technology “Experimental on dynamic deformation and Fracture of materials and structures by using digital image correlation etc. These reports focus on the development frontiers and the latest research results in the field of international experimental mechanics and dynamic loading and its effects.

 

 

The conference included 142 experts and representatives from 15 countries and regions including the United States, Russia, Japan, Australia, Germany, France, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, South Korea, Denmark, Singapore and China. The conference received strong support and unanimous recognition from experts and scholars in related fields and achieved a complete success.
