2014 International Symposium on Safety Science and Technology" was successfully held on November 4-6 at Xijiao Hotel in Beijing. Prof. Fan Weicheng, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, Prof. Feng Changgen from Beijing Institute of Technology, Prof. Jiang Juncheng, Vice President of Nanjing University of Technology, Prof. Bai Haijin, Vice Chairman of China Occupational Safety and Health Association, Prof. Zhang Qingming, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology Deputy directors Wang Cheng and Wang Liqiong attended the opening ceremony. 36 foreign scholars and more than 90 domestic experts from 16 countries and regions including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Canada, South Korea and Australia attended the meeting. Among them include internationally renowned scholars Ronald Willey, Prof. Gi Heung Choi, Dr. Gi Heung Choi, Dr. Peter KAFKA, Prof. Rosa NOMEN, Prof. Ahmed Mebarki, Prof. Jan Berghmans, Prof. Mark WIGGINS, Prof. Franciszek GRABSKI, Prof. Panos PAPAIOANNOU, Dr. Volkmar SCHROEDER, Dr. Maria Molnarne, Dr. Jan Windhorst, Professor Chi-Min SHU, etc.

The 2014 International Conference on Safety Science and Technology was hosted by Beijing Institute of Technology, China Occupational Safety and Health Association, Institute of Public Safety Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Technology, Henan Polytechnic University and Nanjing University of Science and Technology, State Key Laboratory of Explosion Science and Technology (Beijing Institute of Technology) , Safety and Protection Collaborative Innovation Center. The proceedings of the conference included 116 papers from 18 countries and regions, which will be published online by Procedia Engineering, a division of Elsevier.

During the conference, 11 domestic and international experts in security science and technology filed by academicians Fan Weicheng, Prof. Ronald Willey, and Professor Jiang Juncheng made reports at the conference. 40 delegates made reports on the conference, focusing on safety theory, fire safety, public safety, and safety of dangerous goods. Many research fields such as traffic safety and safety management were extensively discussed on the latest achievements in the field of safety science and technology.

The International Conference on Safety Science and Technology is held once every two years. It has been successfully held for 8 sessions. The conference has extensive and important influence at home and abroad. The conference has attracted many scholars and young students from more than 10 countries and regions. This will surely promote the international cooperation and exchange in our university and further promote the development of our university's and even our country's security science and technology disciplines.
