个人简历:
Steeve Chung Kim Yuen is currently employed as professor at the University of Cape Town. He is affiliated to a large established research group; the Blast Impact and Survivability Research Unit (BISRU) headed by Prof Langdon. The group runs projects in four main categories:- high strain rate material characterisation, structural response to both blast and impact loads and bio-mechanics. The research unit is unique in the world in the sense that it houses within one footprint facilities that include blast chamber, drop testers, Hopkinson bars, sled testers (in manufacturing phase), oven and press on top of computational capabilities. Steeve’s research involves a mix of material characterisation, experimental work and finite element simulations.
He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town in South Africa in 2006. His work focuses mostly on projects studying the response of structures to blast load detonated both in air and buried and investigating the energy absorption characteristics of tubular structures to impact loading (crashworthiness). He has also been involved on various other projects such as investigating the batting performance of cricket players, the response of “simple” structures to underwater explosions
