Abstract:

       Atomic-Continuum Coupled(ACC) model and its algorithms for dynamics and thermo-dynamics analysis of metallic materials from atomic model (LQ & MD) to continuum is presented in this talk. Some essential concepts from MD to continuum are shown, such as the decomposition of molecular motion, representative volume element-RVE, basic deformation element, potential energy density, free energy density, local quantum model and multi-bodies potentials and so on. The formulae of continuum fields on dynamics and thermo-dynamics based on MD results, including deformation gradient, stress tensor, constitutive parameters and specific heats at constant volume etc, are given. And all of those for a Cu-nano-wire under tension and bending have been calculated. The in-homogeneity of strain and stress tensor inside Cu nano-wire is revealed.
