Academician Athanasios G. Mamalis, National Technical University of Athens, Greece, was invited to visit Beijing Institute of Technology

From March 21st to April 5th, 2015, under the support of the University's General Introduction Program, Academician Athanasios G. Mamalis of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, was invited to the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology and safety and protection coordination The Innovation Center conducted a two-week exchange visit.

During the visit, Academician Mamalis gave a series of lectures titled "Advanced Manufacturing of Advanced Materials from Macro- to Nanoscale" for teachers and students, mainly introducing the Greek-Russian "Nanotechnology and Advanced Engineering" joint experimental center in nanotechnology in recent years. , dynamics and impact loading processing of advanced materials, industrial applications of net forming manufacturing technology, bioengineering and other areas of research and development trends.

Academician Mamalis has a rich theoretical foundation and practical experience in the field of material impact synthesis and processing. He is also a well-known scholar in the fields of powder impact consolidation, explosive diamond synthesis, and explosive welding. In the report, he combined scientific research with the practical problems of solving engineering projects, stimulating the research interests of teachers and students and expanding the academic perspective. Prof. Chen Pengwan and colleagues of the laboratory had an in-depth exchange with academician Mamalis, reached a consensus on cooperation research, and signed a framework agreement on research directions and cooperation methods. He hoped that the two sides would carry out collaborative research and promote our school. Development in the field of shock wave synthesis,  processing of materials.

Academician Mamalis currently serves as Scientific Director of the Greek-Russian Joint Experimental Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Engineering. He is also a full-time professor of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the Michigan Technological University of the United States and the School of Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Academician Mamalis received his Ph.D. from Cambridge University. He worked as a chief engineer and technical director for several years in Germany and Greece. He has extensive experience in industrial production and has 40 years of cooperation with many countries including Europe, the United States, and Japan.
